Advance - Go Unless You Get A No is the sixth lesson of our Out Of The Box series.

After risk, comes the opportunity to advance. Many times, we claim we are waiting on God when in reality He is waiting on us. Every Christ follower has the prime directive to “Go” and represent Him on this earth at the epicenter of where the Kingdom of God confronts the Kingdom of Darkness. The closer we get to this divine challenge, the bigger it will seem and the smaller we feel, so we must make clear our perspective and our priorities. Do we believe God is who He says he is, and will we refuse to run in fear and instead, run full force into the challenge with faith in our huge God?

Closing: there’s a scene I believe from the old car movie, Smokey and the Bandit! I know I’m dating myself. But there’s a scene where an Italian guy jumps into a car with others and immediately rips off the rear view mirror and throws it out the window. A shocked passenger asks, “Why’d you do that?” “Because whatever’s behind me doesn’t matter!” That’s it, but it’s enough! It’s enough to maybe make it a short term mantra for your life. For some of us, if we were to predict our future based upon the past of what’s behind us – the future would be rather gloomy, so maybe it’s time to rip off your rear view mirror, lean forward and advance, go until you get a No!

Risk - Live Before You Die, & Visa Versa is the fifth lesson of our Out Of The Box series.

There is a false Christian cliché that states the safest place to be is in the center of God’s will. While it is true that to live outside God’s will puts us in danger, it’s more true that to live in His will, will make us dangerous because we do not seek to live risk-free, but instead become free to risk. Today we’ll learn that faith is trusting God enough to obey what He has said, and hope is having the confidence that God will do everything He has promised. One pushes you and the other pulls you to live adventurously accomplishing God’s risky purposes.

Closing: It comes down to this, you cannot live the life of your dreams, the life you were created for, without stepping into risk. Sometimes what looks like a closed door is really an opportunity to step forward into huge risk, which really takes guts, courage to act despite uncertainty. If you jump in the direction of your Heavenly Father, He will catch you, even though it doesn’t mean everything goes perfectly right or well or even the way you want it. And by the way, if you’re going to live before you die, you have to die before you live. You have to come to that intersection, that point of no-return – that place like Jonathan where you say, “we’re going to let them see us” and trust God to help us do something that’s bigger than myself, bigger than us – it’s God meeting us along the path to accomplish something extraordinary along the journey.

Influence - Breathe In, Breathe Out is the forth lesson of our Out Of The Box series.

Remember as kids, getting into trouble and your folks asking, “Who put you up to this?” Well, influence works in a positive direction as well as negative. All of us pass a bit of ourselves onto others, so we better like who we are and make what we give away a blessing, not a curse. A significant part of seizing divine moments is recognizing that God’s intention is to use us as vessels for good – not simply to do good, but to generate good that leads other to desire and share that same good too.

Closing: When we breathe in deeply of God and allow Him to impact us, change our character – the natural response is to exhale, breathe out so that other’s might inhale the same power of a changed character that ultimately will change them and change the world. God, make us influencial – give us the kind of life that doesn’t need power or position of authority, but rather breathes your character of life for other’s to desire to breath in also.

Uncertainty - Know You Don’t Know is the third lesson of our Out Of The Box series.

The previous era of peace and stability here in America has caused us to make wrong conclusions about what the human spirit needs. Since 9-11, we’re learning that “security” is not always necessary to living life to the fullest, indeed it can hinder real life. Today we’ll learn that despite our uncertainty, we can move forward on God’s divine mission, seizing divine moments because we can trust His character and capacity to accomplish His purposes. Whether or not we succeed personally, a God-sized adventure has no place for “know-it-alls” and self-sufficiency, but as God intervenes in extraordinary ways, our life points to Him and His undeniable, extraordinary intervention.

Closing: We don’t know how life will play out in all it’s surprise, mystery and uncertainty, but we need to recognize with Jonathan that there are moments in life you have to decide if it’s going to be all about me, or will I give my life to something greater than myself? Am I going to live my life trapped in fear, paralyzed by uncertainty, or am I going to walk in confidence because of the certainty that I have in God, knowing that I don’t know, and yet having the strength of Him who I do know. (Phil.4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.)

Initiative – Just Do Something is the second lesson of our Out Of The Box series

Have we put so much emphasis on avoiding evil that we have become virtually blind to the endless opportunities for doing good? The Pomegranate Dilemma is the tragic reality of God’s blessings becoming the very obstacles to our seizing divine moments to do good. So we must ensure that while we celebrate the goodness of God, we do not neglect the purpose of God. In this message, we’re called to wake up from our sleepy bliss, get out of bed, and take some initiative because God wants to change the world through your life if you’ll just do something!

“Positivity in a Negative World” is the third life lesson of our DOORS series

In a world that can be so often full of uncertainty, negativity seems to be the norm. But negativity has the dangerous ability to keep us from experiencing the most out of life. In this message, we’ll learn how negativity was never God’s design for our lives. Through the example of God’s people, the Israelites, He shows how negativity can run rampant if we don’t slam the door. And as we learn the right choice to make for this door decision, we discover the path that can lead us to God and the life of positivity he has in store for us all.
